Can I just use a standard LED bulb from a hardware store in my boat light?
Only if it's designed for your onboard voltage (usually 12V or 24V). Hardware store LEDs typically run on 230V AC and are not suitable for onboard use. Additionally, they often lack the necessary protection against moisture and splashing water.
How do I identify the base type of my old bulb?
Unscrew the old bulb and check the inscription or the shape of the base. Common types on board are G4, G53, BA15, and MR16. If in doubt, a photo of the old bulb will help when comparing it with the product description.
Which protection class do I need for bulbs in the exterior of my boat?
