Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte

How do I know which part fits my engine exactly?
The most reliable way to find the right part is by using the engine type and serial number, which can be found on the nameplate on the engine block or in the owner's manual. The year of manufacture and power class alone are often not sufficient, as manufacturers like Volvo Penta or Yanmar have produced different versions within the same series.
How often should I change the water impeller on a Yamaha outboard?
Yamaha itself generally recommends changing it annually or after a certain number of operating hours – refer to your manual for this. In practice, changing the impeller once a year as part of your seasonal maintenance will protect you from the much more expensive damage caused by an overheated engine.
Can I use compatible anodes instead of original anodes for a Volvo Penta drive?
Yes, with anodes this is generally unproblematic as long as the material is correct – i.e., zinc for saltwater, aluminum for brackish and saltwater, magnesium for freshwater. It is important that the shape and mounting holes match the respective drive model.
Are fuel filters for Yanmar diesels manufacturer-specific or are there standard sizes?
Yanmar uses different filter types depending on the engine generation, with specific connection threads and filter finenesses. While there are compatible third-party filters for certain models, you should have the part number of your previous filter or the engine specifications at hand to be sure.
