How often do I need to re-waterproof a boat cover?
That depends on UV exposure, cleaning frequency, and material. As a rough rule of thumb: if water no longer beads off but soaks into the fabric, a re-treatment is necessary – this could be once per season or more often.
Can I apply waterproofing sprays to damp textiles?
Most products require a clean, dry fabric for optimal adhesion. Some wet waterproofing agents are specifically formulated for application on damp fabric – this will be stated in the product description.
How do I remove mildew stains from a cockpit cover?
Special mildew removers for marine textiles work well on fresh stains. Deep-set mildew sometimes leaves permanent discoloration. Treat the area with a mildew protection product after cleaning before storing the cover.
