Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- Does a fresh water tank on board need special approval?
- Yes, for drinking water you should only use tanks that have drinking water approval according to a recognized standard. Only then is it ensured that the material does not release harmful substances into the water.
- Flexible or rigid tanks – which is better for a boat?
- Rigid tanks are more durable and easier to clean, but require a precisely measured installation space. Flexible tanks can be fitted into irregularly shaped bilge areas and are therefore often the better choice when space is limited.
- How do I prevent odors from the holding tank inside the boat?
- A properly routed vent line leading outside is the most important measure. In addition, all hose connections should be checked regularly for leaks, as porous hoses or loose clamps are the most common sources of odor.
- How do I clean a holding tank without damaging seals?
- After emptying, rinse the tank thoroughly with clear water and only use cleaners that are explicitly approved for marine sanitary systems. Household cleaners with high acid or alkali content attack rubber seals and tank walls and should not be used.
