How do I find out which generation of Seldén System 30 I have?
The serial number on the lower swivel housing provides information about the year of manufacture and generation. Seldén has changed the geometry of the foil profile over the years, so the serial number is the safest way to choose the correct parts.
Can foil segments of different generations of System 30 be combined with each other?
Generally no. Foil profiles of different generations have different connecting geometries and cannot be reliably coupled. If you are adding individual segments, you should know the exact generation.
Which care product is suitable for the bearings of the furling system?
Use an acid-free lubricant that is compatible with plastic and aluminum. Mineral oil-based oils can attack plastic parts - PTFE-based sprays have proven effective in practice.
Can I replace the swivel shackle of the System 30 myself?
Yes, replacement is possible with simple tools, as long as you don't have to completely re-rig the forestay. Make sure that the new shackle matches the foot fitting size of your Seldén system and that all cotter pins are correctly installed.
