How do I find out which Seldén mast profile I have?
The profile designation is usually on a sticker at the mast foot or in your boat's original rigging plan. Alternatively, you can use Seldén's serial number decoder on the manufacturer's website or send us the serial number.
Can I use Seldén fittings on masts from other manufacturers?
Only to a limited extent. Seldén fittings are designed for their own groove profiles. On masts from other manufacturers, dimensions and groove geometry may differ, leading to poor fit or damage. If in doubt, please measure and compare.
Which screws and nuts should I use for mast accessories?
For Seldén fittings on aluminum masts, A4 stainless steel screws are the right choice. Galvanized or zinc-plated screws risk contact corrosion on aluminum and should generally be avoided on board.
How often should I check movable mast parts like halyard sheaves or gooseneck fittings?
At least once per season, preferably when lowering the mast in autumn. Check for smooth operation, play, and the condition of bearings and axles. Worn sheaves noticeably increase halyard friction and can break under load.
