Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- How do I find out which Seldén mast section is installed on my boat?
- The mast section designation is embossed or glued onto the mast heel on most Seldén masts. Alternatively, the boat's construction file or a direct inquiry to the boat manufacturer with the year of manufacture and model can help.
- Can I transfer fittings from an old Seldén mast to a new one?
- Only if the new section is identical. Different section generations can have different groove widths or hole spacing, so fittings may no longer sit flush or simply not fit. If in doubt, compare measurements before ordering.
- What is the difference between a deck-stepped and a keel-stepped mast from Seldén?
- In a deck-stepped mast, the mast heel rests on the deck and the compressive forces are introduced there, while in a keel-stepped mast, the mast extends through the deck down to the keel. This influences the mast heel construction, section choice, and the necessary support from chainplates – both variants are available in the Seldén range.
- How do I protect the aluminum mast from corrosion at contact points?
- Wherever steel bolts, stainless steel fittings, or stay attachments rest directly on the aluminum, contact corrosion occurs. Apply anti-corrosion grease during assembly or place a plastic or rubber washer between them to interrupt direct metal contact.
