Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte

Which hoses can I use for drinking water on board?
Only hoses with drinking water approval – in Europe, this often means approval according to WRAS, KTW, or comparable standards. Without this marking, plasticizers or other substances can leach into the water, which is a health concern.
Can I use the same type of hose for fuel and water?
No. Fuel hoses are designed to be resistant to hydrocarbons but are not approved for drinking water. Conversely, water hoses can swell or decompose due to fuel. Choose the appropriate hose for each application.
How do I know if a fitting matches my hose diameter?
The crucial factors are the inner diameter of the hose and the outer diameter of the fitting's spigot – these must be coordinated so that the hose clamp can grip securely. If in doubt, measure both dimensions, as manufacturer specifications can vary in inches or millimeters.
How often should I check hoses and clamps on board?
At least once per season, ideally during the spring check before launching. Look for cracks, hardening, discoloration, and loose clamps – especially on hoses below the waterline, where a leak can quickly become critical.
