How do I know if a hose is suitable for drinking water?
Drinking water hoses must carry a corresponding food or drinking water approval. You can find this marking in the product description or directly on the hose. Hoses without this approval can release plasticizers and odors into the water.
How often should I replace gas hoses on board?
Manufacturers specify replacement intervals that you should always adhere to – regardless of whether the hose still looks good externally. Hardening, cracks, or a gas smell are immediate indicators for replacement.
What does spiral reinforced mean and when do I need it?
A spiral reinforcement in the hose prevents it from collapsing under negative pressure. This is particularly important for suction applications, such as on bilge pumps or tank extraction lines, where a flattened hose immediately interrupts the flow.
Can I use a fuel hose for cooling water?
This is not recommended. Fuel hoses are designed for chemical resistance to hydrocarbons, but not necessarily for permanently high temperatures. Use the intended type of hose for each application to prevent premature wear and leaks.
