- How do I know which track profile fits my existing blocks or cars?
- Look at the underside of your block or car – the suitable track profile is often indicated there. If in doubt, measure the groove width and groove height of your existing track with calipers and compare them with the product dimensions in our item description.
- Can I mount a stainless steel track directly on an aluminum deck?
- Stainless steel and aluminum form a galvanic couple, which leads to contact corrosion on the aluminum without an isolating layer. Place a plastic or neoprene strip as an isolating layer under the track and also use insulating washers on the fastening screws.
- Which sealant is suitable for installing a deck track?
- For tracks on GRP decks, permanently elastic polysulfide or polyurethane sealants have proven effective because they accommodate vibrations and deck movements without tearing. Silicone sealant is less suitable for GRP, as paint and antifouling adhere poorly to it.
- Do I need to reinforce the deck under a new track?
- This depends on the load and the local deck thickness. Heavily loaded tracks, such as genoa tracks, should always be secured on an aluminum backing plate or a plywood pad on the underside of the deck so that the load is distributed over a large area and the laminate does not break out.
