Which repair strip adheres to a PVC inflatable boat?
For PVC inflatable boats, use specially designated PVC-compatible strips, either self-adhesive for immediate use or to be applied with contact adhesive for a more permanent repair. Make sure that the strip is also suitable for inflated inflatable boats with corresponding internal pressure.
Can I apply a repair strip to a wet surface?
Most self-adhesive strips adhere significantly less well or not at all to wet surfaces. For emergency repairs in water, there are special underwater adhesives or patches that can do this – a standard repair strip is not designed for this.
How large should the strip be in relation to the damage?
The strip should generously overlap the damage on all sides, at least a few centimeters beyond the edges of the damage. Patches applied too tightly will quickly peel off at the edges, especially if the material is under tension.
Do repair strips also work on acrylic canvas like Sunbrella?
Conventional PVC strips adhere poorly to acrylic canvas because the fabric has no coating. For such fabrics, there are special patch materials made of the same or a compatible fabric, which are joined with suitable adhesive or by melting.
