Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte

What material is best suited for outdoor mounts?
For permanent use in splash water areas, stainless steel, ideally A4 quality, is recommended. Aluminum is lighter but requires good anodization to prevent it from dulling or corroding.
How do I properly secure a shelf to a GRP deck without water penetration?
Always seal holes in the GRP deck with a marine-grade sealant – polysulfide adheres well to GRP and remains elastic. Secure the screws on the underside with a washer and locknut to prevent them from loosening due to vibrations.
Can I use mounts from a hardware store on board?
Often yes in the short term, usually no in the long term. Regular steel quickly rusts in a saltwater environment, and plastics without UV stabilization become brittle. For permanent solutions, specific marine material is worthwhile.
How do I prevent bottles or devices from falling out of the shelf even when heeling?
Shelves with a tilt protection bar or a rubber tension strap are significantly safer than open storage. For electronics and heavy equipment, hook-and-loop fasteners or special clamping brackets that secure the load during maneuvers are also suitable.
