Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- Where can I find the serial number of my Mercury outboard motor?
- The serial number is usually located on a sticker on the starboard side of the engine cowling or on the transom bracket. On older engines, it may also be stamped into the housing. It is the most reliable basis for part selection.
- Which anode alloy do I need for my Mercury?
- That depends on the water you're operating in: Zinc anodes are suitable for saltwater, magnesium anodes for freshwater, and aluminum anodes work well in both. The wrong alloy will either offer little protection for your engine or corrode unnecessarily quickly.
- How often should the water impeller be replaced on a Mercury?
- As a rule of thumb, every two years or after 200 operating hours – whichever comes first. If you're restarting your engine after a long break, you should check the impeller beforehand, as the rubber can harden when dry.
- Are compatible parts safe for Mercury engines?
- For routine maintenance – impellers, filters, spark plugs, anodes – high-quality compatible parts are a common choice. For safety-critical or heavily stressed components such as control units or clutch components, we recommend using original parts.
