What rope diameter can luff line clamps hold?
That depends on the model. Each clamp is designed for a specific diameter range, which is stated in the product description – check this against your actual luff lines before purchasing.
Can I release a luff line clamp under load?
Most luff line clamps can be released under moderate load, but the effort required increases with the load. For high-load applications, clamps with a specially shaped release lever are better suited than simple clamping jaws.
What material is suitable for saltwater use?
Stainless steel and fiberglass-reinforced plastics are the usual materials for on-board use. It is important that the spring and clamping jaw are also made of corrosion-resistant material – not just the housing.
