Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte

Can I connect my existing fishfinder transducer to a new multifunction display?
That depends on the transducer type and the connection format of the device. Before purchasing, check if your transducer is compatible with the chosen device – the manufacturer's specifications will list supported transducer types and connections.
What minimum protection rating should a multifunction display for the cockpit have?
For installation in an open cockpit or at the helm, at least IPX5 (jet water protection) is recommended. For devices that occasionally get splashed from all sides, IPX7 (temporary immersion) is the safer choice.
Do multifunction displays also work in existing NMEA networks?
Many current devices support NMEA 2000 or NMEA 0183 – but not all. Check the technical specifications to see which standard is supported so that the autopilot, wind sensor, or AIS continue to communicate smoothly.
Can a multifunction display also be mounted as a surface-mount unit if no flush-mount space is available?
Yes, many manufacturers offer suitable surface-mount brackets. When doing so, ensure adequate cable routing and that the device, when mounted, still maintains the minimum distances to compasses.
