How often do I need to replace the gas hose on board?
Gas hoses have an embossed expiry date, which must be strictly observed – regardless of their visual condition. For marine use, an annual visual inspection for cracks, hardening, or discolouration is also recommended, as salt and UV radiation accelerate ageing.
Which sealant can I use for gas threads on board?
Only PTFE thread tape approved for gas or a special thread sealant with gas approval. Universal silicone or Teflon tape without gas approval is not permitted and can lead to liability issues in the event of damage.
Does every pressure regulator fit every gas cylinder?
No – cylinder valves differ in connection type depending on the country and manufacturer. Before purchasing, check which valve connection your cylinder has and ensure that the regulator's outlet pressure matches your appliances.
Can I use normal household fittings from a hardware store for the onboard gas system?
You should avoid that. Die-cast zinc fittings corrode quickly in a saltwater environment and can become leaky. Only brass or stainless steel components approved for LPG are suitable for onboard gas systems.
