Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte

Where can I find the serial number of my Evinrude or Johnson outboard motor?
The serial number is usually located on a sticker or plate on the engine block, often under the engine cover or on the transom bracket. Also, have the model name and year of manufacture ready, as many parts only fit specific engine series.
How often should I replace the impeller of my outboard motor?
As a general rule, it should be replaced every one to two seasons or, at the latest, when the engine gets too hot at idle or the tell-tale stream is weaker than usual. A defective impeller is one of the most common causes of overheating damage.
Can I safely use compatible aftermarket parts in my Evinrude or Johnson?
For many routine maintenance tasks such as spark plugs, anodes, or fuel filters, compatible parts are a well-functioning and more cost-effective option, as long as the technical specifications match. For safety-critical components such as fuel lines or ignition electronics, we recommend original parts.
Which anodes are suitable for my Johnson outboard motor?
That depends on the operating water: zinc for saltwater, aluminum for brackish and mixed water, magnesium for freshwater. In addition, the anode shape must match the respective engine series and year of manufacture – so please provide the model and serial number when searching.
