Deck hatches
Ensure solid, tight deck solutions
Deck hatches include classic deck fittings and fasteners that are often overlooked in everyday life – until they are missing.
Accurate measurements, materials, and clean installation are crucial here. Stainless steel is durable and corrosion-resistant, while brass and bronze are traditional and robust.
With the right selection, everything fits securely, neatly, and permanently watertight.

Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- How do I measure the correct cutout for a new deck hatch?
- The crucial measurement is the rough cutout in the deck, not the old flange. Measure the clear opening in length and width, and also check the deck or superstructure thickness, as this influences the frame height. Many manufacturers provide both the minimum cutout and the flange overlap in their technical data – you will need both values.
- What sealant should I use when installing a deck hatch?
- For GRP decks, polyurethane adhesive and sealant has proven effective, as it remains permanently flexible and bonds firmly to the substrate. While silicone products are easy to work with, they adhere less well to GRP and are difficult to remove without leaving residue later. Check the installation instructions for your hatch to see if the manufacturer specifies a particular product.
- Can I install a stainless steel deck hatch on a wooden deck?
- Yes, but you should place a permanently elastic gasket or a plastic shim under the flange so that the wood can breathe and no moisture accumulates under the flange. Regular checks of the screw connections are also recommended, as wood expands and contracts and screws can loosen over time.
- The rubber seal of my deck hatch is brittle – do I have to replace the whole hatch?
- In most cases, no. Many manufacturers offer replacement sealing profiles by the metre or as pre-assembled frame seals. It is important to know the exact profile – it is best to send a short piece of the old rubber seal as a sample or state the hatch brand and size when enquiring.
