Bug platforms

Stay secure – even when it's blowing

Bow platforms are the foundation for secure anchoring in a bay. Weight, boat length, and sailing area determine which system suits you best.

Many sailors use a combination of chain and rode to balance holding power and ease of handling. Important factors also include the right bow roller, the correct chain calibration, and a stable attachment point.

With the right anchor gear, your boat will lie more calmly – even in wind and waves.

Discover variants, materials, and designs built for marine use. This way, you'll find equipment that remains reliable on board – season after season.

Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte

Which mounting type is right for my boat – deck or railing mounting?
That depends on your boat's deck construction. Deck mounts are generally more stable and suitable for higher loads but require properly sealed drill holes. Railing mounts are easier to retrofit but only make sense if your railing has the necessary load-bearing capacity.
Is aluminum or teak the better choice for a bow platform?
Aluminum is lighter, easier to maintain, and more durable with less effort. Teak or synthetic teak offers more grip when wet and integrates better visually into classic deck designs. For boats that are frequently sailed, aluminum with an anti-slip profile is often the more practical choice.
Can I install a bow platform myself, or do I need a specialized company?
Many bow platforms can be installed by yourself with some DIY skill if you follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully and seal the penetrations thoroughly. As soon as load-bearing structures or complex cable penetrations are involved, a specialized company is recommended.
How do I prevent screws and hinges on the bow platform from rusting quickly?
Use only A4-grade stainless steel screws and treat all connection points with a marine corrosion protection after installation. A visual inspection at the end of each season – and briefly tightening any loose connections – will keep the platform in shape long-term.
