How do I measure the correct diameter of my railing?
Measure the outer diameter of the existing railing bar with a caliper – 22, 25, or 32 mm are common. The inner diameter and wall thickness are also relevant for clamp and plug connectors, so it's best to note both before ordering spare parts.
Can I replace individual railing bars without changing the entire pulpit?
Yes, provided you find bars with identical diameters and suitable end connectors. Make sure the wall thickness is comparable so that the new bar fits into existing clamps or welding sleeves.
How do I properly seal railing stanchions in the deck?
First, completely remove old sealant and thoroughly clean the surfaces. Use a special marine deck sealant that is suitable for your deck's substrate – different products for GRP than for wood. Only tighten the screws after the sealant has cured.
Why does my stainless steel bow pulpit still get rust spots?
Rust pitting often occurs at welds or due to foreign rust from steel chips that accumulate on the surface. Clean the affected areas with a stainless steel cleaner and then treat the surface with a passivating agent or care oil, especially after winter.
