Battery control systems
Stabilize your electrical system
Voltage, power, and battery type must match each other for your system to remain stable.
The dimensioning of cables and fuses is also important for safe and efficient operation.
This ensures your on-board electrical system runs reliably – from start to anchor.
Discover variants, materials, and designs built for maritime use. This way, you'll find equipment that remains reliable on board – season after season.

Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- What is the difference between a simple voltmeter and a battery monitor with shunt?
- A voltmeter only shows the current voltage – this gives you a rough estimate of the state of charge, but no precise capacity indication. A battery monitor with a shunt additionally measures the actual current flow and calculates how many ampere-hours are still available, which allows for significantly more reliable statements.
- Can I use a battery monitoring system with a lithium battery?
- Yes, but not every system is suitable for lithium. Make sure that the monitor can correctly process the flatter discharge curve of LiFePO4, as many devices are calibrated for lead-acid chemistry and would display inaccurate capacity values for lithium.
- How many battery banks can a monitoring system monitor simultaneously?
- That depends on the specific device. Simple monitors monitor one bank, multi-channel systems can display two or more banks – for example, starting and house – separately. Check the technical specifications of the respective device for the number of shunt inputs.
- Where exactly does the shunt need to be installed in the onboard electrical system?
- The shunt belongs in the main negative lead between the negative terminal of the battery and the rest of the onboard electrical system. All other negative connections must also run through the shunt, otherwise the measurement will not capture the complete current flow and will display incorrect values.
