Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- How many steps do I need for my freeboard?
- As a rule of thumb: one step should be well below the waterline when swimming, so you can push off and pull yourself up. For a freeboard of over 60 cm at the stern, at least three, or even better, four steps are recommended. The product description will tell you the total length of the ladder.
- Will a swimming ladder fit my GRP stern without a railing?
- Yes, there are models specifically for mounting on the transom by screwing or with a clamp holder. The crucial factor is the hole spacing of the mounting plates – compare this with your stern before ordering.
- Can I leave a stainless steel swimming ladder permanently mounted in saltwater?
- High-quality stainless steel holds up well to saltwater, as long as you regularly maintain the moving parts and screw connections. After longer trips in saltwater, rinsing with fresh water is recommended to prevent deposits.
- Are swimming ladders with teak steps as safe to use as models with metal steps?
- Teak offers very good grip when wet and is comfortable to walk on barefoot, which is why it is particularly popular on yachts. Over time, teak can fade and should be treated with a suitable teak oil if necessary to prevent it from becoming brittle.
