Anchors & Accessories
Anchor safely – even when it's blowing
Anchors & Accessories are the foundation for safe anchoring in a bay. Weight, boat length, and cruising area determine which system suits you best.
Many sailors use a combination of chain and rope to balance holding power and ease of handling. Also important are the right bow roller, the correct chain calibration, and a stable attachment.
With the right anchor gear, your boat will lie more calmly – even in wind and waves.
Discover variants, materials, and designs built for marine use. This way, you'll find equipment that remains reliable on board – season after season.

Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- What chain size do I need for my boat?
- As a rough rule of thumb: the boat's length in meters divided by three gives the recommended chain diameter in millimeters – so a 9-meter boat would need about 8 mm. However, the boat's weight and the cruising area are also important: in an exposed anchorage with strong currents, you should opt for a more generous dimension.
- How much chain or rode should I deploy?
- For all-chain rode, at least five to seven times the water depth is recommended as scope; for chain-rode combinations, seven to ten times is better. Less scope means a steeper pull on the anchor and poorer holding power – especially when the wind picks up.
- Can I mix shackles and connecting links made of different materials?
- Generally possible, but be careful: different metals can cause galvanic corrosion under saltwater influence. Galvanized steel and stainless steel should ideally not be directly connected. Match the materials in your anchor tackle as closely as possible.
- How do I know when my anchor chain needs to be replaced?
- Deep rust pitting, broken chain links, or links with noticeable and visible material loss are clear signs that it's time to replace it. Also, if stud links deform or shackle pins can no longer be secured properly, it's time for a replacement – better once too early than at the wrong moment.
