Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- How often should I change the fuel filter on my boat engine?
- As a rule of thumb, change the filter element once per season or according to your engine manufacturer's specifications. If you frequently operate in areas with fluctuating fuel quality or accumulate many operating hours, you should shorten the interval and regularly check the water level in the separator.
- Can I use a gasoline filter for a diesel engine?
- No. Filter materials and seals are designed for the respective fuel – a filter that is not approved for the fuel can become porous or swell when it comes into contact with the wrong fuel. Always look for explicit approval for gasoline or diesel in the product data.
- What does the micron rating on a fuel filter mean, and which one do I need?
- The micron rating indicates how fine the particles the filter retains are: the smaller the number, the finer the filtration. For boat engines, pre-filters in the coarse range and fine filters are often used in combination. The specific fineness that is suitable can be found in your engine manufacturer's maintenance specifications.
- My water separator fills up quickly with water – what's causing this?
- Frequent causes include condensation in the tank due to significant temperature fluctuations or fuel with a high water content from the gas station. Also, check whether the tank cap is sealed and no rainwater is entering. If the problem persists, a tank cleaning is worthwhile.
