Boats moored in fresh and saltwater rely on sacrificial anodes as the first and most affordable line of defense against underwater corrosion.

Tip: Zinc anodes work best in salt and brackish water. In fresh water, you should switch to magnesium anodes, as zinc can become passivated there and lose its protective effect.
