Saltwater attacks metal – but your outboard engine won't be affected if the sacrificial anode is correct. This Tecnoseal zinc anode is precisely designed for Mercury outboards from 4.5 to 9 HP and reliably protects the underwater hull from galvanic corrosion.

Tip: Zinc anodes are only suitable for salt and brackish water. In freshwater, you should use magnesium anodes instead, as zinc tends to passivate there and does not offer sufficient protection.
