It sacrifices itself so that the gearbox housing, propeller shaft, and attachments of your engine remain undamaged.

Tip: Check all anodes on your outboard simultaneously and replace them together as a preventive measure – this way you avoid an overlooked, already depleted anode leaving the engine unprotected.
