Keep your drive running reliably
Correct identification saves time and protects the engine. Serial number, engine type, and year of manufacture are the most important pieces of information.
For propellers, diameter, pitch, and direction of rotation are crucial.
This keeps your drive efficient, economical, and reliable.
Discover variants, materials, and designs built for marine use. This way, you'll find equipment that remains reliable on board – season after season.

Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- How do I read the engraved specifications on my old propeller?
- The engraving usually shows diameter x pitch in inches, for example, 13 x 17. The first value is the propeller diameter, the second is the pitch – i.e., the theoretical thrust per revolution. Rotation direction and hub type are sometimes also on the propeller or in the engine data sheet.
- Do I have to replace the hub sleeve when changing the propeller?
- Not necessarily, but recommended: rubber or plastic hub sleeves wear out over time and lose their damping effect. They are often damaged in a ground impact, even if it is not externally visible. When in doubt, it's better to order one along – they are inexpensive and easy to change.
- What is the difference between a right-hand and a left-hand propeller?
- Right-hand propellers rotate clockwise in forward gear, left-hand propellers counter-clockwise. Most single-engine boats have right-hand propellers. In counter-rotating twin-propeller drives and certain sterndrives, one side is installed left-hand – here, it is essential to check the engine documents, as an incorrectly rotating model cannot be mounted.
- How do I know if my propeller has the wrong pitch?
- Too high pitch: The engine no longer reaches its rated speed, runs sluggishly, and overheats faster. Too low pitch: The engine over-revs past its rated speed, and top speed and efficiency decrease. Both damage the engine in the long term – the optimal pitch allows the engine to run exactly within its specified RPM range at full load.
