sacrificial anodes
Protect your boat from corrosion
Sacrificial anodes protect your boat from galvanic corrosion – a small part with a big impact.
Which anode is right depends on the cruising area, material, and mounting position. Saltwater, brackish, and freshwater require different alloys.
Dimensions, hole spacing, and shape must fit exactly for the anode to work properly.
Discover variants, materials, and designs built for marine use. This way, you'll find equipment that remains reliable on board – season after season.

Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- What anode material do I need for brackish water?
- In brackish water, aluminum anodes are the best choice, as zinc develops too little electrochemical potential here and magnesium is consumed too quickly. Aluminum works stably over a wide salinity range.
- How do I know when a sacrificial anode needs to be replaced?
- If the anode has eroded to about half its original volume, you should replace it. Don't wait until the next off-season if you notice that the erosion is progressing faster than expected.
- Can I paint over anodes with antifouling?
- No. Antifouling paint electrically isolates the surface of the anode, so there is no longer galvanic contact and the protection is completely lost. Always leave anodes unpainted.
- How do I make sure a new anode fits my outboard motor?
- Measure the hole spacing, bore diameter, and outer dimensions of the old anode and compare them with the product data. Alternatively, note the manufacturer and model of your outboard motor – most anode manufacturers list compatible parts by model.
