Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- Are NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 devices compatible with each other?
- Not directly. You need a converter or a gateway that translates the protocols. Many modern chartplotters have both interfaces built in and perform this bridging function.
- What IP rating do cockpit speakers need?
- In splash-water areas, at least IP65; for installation near the deck or in the cockpit, IPX7 is recommended. Normal home speakers quickly corrode from the inside due to salt air.
- Can I install a depth transducer later without a through-hull fitting?
- Yes, so-called "glue-in" transducers can be glued to the inside of a GRP hull and transmit through the laminate. The range is slightly less than with through-hull transducers, but sufficient for most sports boats.
- What voltage do marine navigation devices require?
- Most devices are designed for 12 V, many accept 10-32 V and thus also work on 24 V systems. Check the data sheet of the respective device and secure the power cable with the fuse recommended by the manufacturer.
