Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- What display size is suitable for a helm station in the cockpit?
- From about 9 inches, the display can be read well from a normal standing distance, even in sunlight. However, the actual installation situation is crucial – measure the distance from the steering wheel to the planned installation location before you decide.
- Can I continue to use my existing depth sounder?
- That depends on the transducer type and the connector standard. Many older transducers with proprietary connectors can be integrated via adapters, while others require a new purchase. Carefully examine the data sheet of your transducer and the connection list of the new MFD.
- Can a multifunction display be retrofitted with AIS?
- Yes, provided the device has a free NMEA-2000 or NMEA-0183 input. An external AIS receiver is then simply integrated into the network. Some MFDs also offer an internal AIS receiver – this saves wiring effort.
- How do I protect the display from frost and UV damage in winter?
- If possible, remove the device and store it in a dry, frost-free place. If it remains installed, a precisely fitting cover made of UV-resistant material protects the screen. Apply corrosion protection grease or protective caps to the connectors so that the contacts survive the winter break undamaged.
