How do I correctly measure a sealing profile for my hatch?

Measure the groove width and groove depth in the hatch groove with calipers - don't just estimate. The safest way is to remove the old profile and compare the cross-section directly or take it with you as a template, as even small deviations of one millimeter can negate the sealing effect.

What material should hinges for exterior hatches be made of?

For hatches exposed to direct spray or salt air, A4 stainless steel is the right choice. A2 steel or brass are only suitable for protected indoor areas, as they corrode with prolonged saltwater exposure.

My gas spring no longer holds the hatch open - is it due to the spring itself?

Usually, yes: gas springs lose pressure over time and must then be replaced as a unit; they cannot be refilled. Additionally, check whether the pivot points are still correctly seated and whether the hatch itself has not become heavier, for example due to swollen wood or subsequent modifications.

That depends on the part: sealing profiles and hinges are generally manufacturer-independent, as long as the dimensions are correct.
