Due to the connection between the protective conductor of the shore power connection and the negative terminal of the onboard electrical system, galvanic currents can occur between neighboring yachts, docks, quays, or other structures in the water and your yacht. This can even lead to the disintegration of bronze valves or the complete failure of the rudder system under load. Propellers, saildrives, or Z-drives can also disintegrate completely. To prevent this, we recommend installing a galvanic isolator that protects against galvanic corrosion via the shore power protective conductor.
