Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- How do I choose the right diameter for my spherical fender?
- Refer to the manufacturer's specifications for your boat's size and weight. As a general rule: it's better to choose a diameter one size larger than too small, because a fender that's too small will give way under load and offer little protection to the hull.
- Can I also use a spherical fender as a stern fender?
- Yes, spherical fenders are often used precisely for that purpose. Make sure the fender is large enough to reliably keep the stern away from the dock or another boat, and that the attachment eye can withstand the load.
- What kind of valve do spherical fenders have and can I inflate them myself?
- Most spherical fenders have a standard needle valve, which you can inflate with a simple ball pump or a bicycle pump with a suitable attachment. Check the pressure at the beginning of the season and after longer periods of inactivity.
- How do I properly store spherical fenders over the winter?
- After the season, rinse the fenders with fresh water, let them dry completely, and store them deflated in a dark, cool place. UV light and adhering salt significantly accelerate material fatigue.
