Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- What measurement do I need to take before buying an inspection hatch?
- The crucial measurement is the installation dimension, i.e., the diameter or edge length of the cutout you will make in the material. The outer diameter of the flange is always larger and rests on the surface. Also, check the available installation depth under the deck.
- Are plastic inspection hatches permanently UV-resistant?
- High-quality hatches are made from UV-stabilized plastic and will last many seasons with regular care. Nevertheless, it is worthwhile to occasionally treat transparent lids with a plastic care product to prevent them from becoming milky prematurely.
- How do I prevent water from entering the deck through the flange?
- In addition to the supplied rubber seal, embed the flange with a suitable boat sealant during installation. The seal alone is often not sufficient for water pressure or heavy rain, especially if the deck flexes slightly.
- Can I replace a round inspection hatch with a square one later?
- This is generally possible, but it requires a new cutout – you'll need to close the old round one with GRP laminate or epoxy filler before making the new cutout. Plan this carefully, as a cutout that is sawn too large cannot be made smaller.
