Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- What is the difference between a warm air and a hot water heater for boats?
- Warm air heaters blow heated air directly into the cabins through ducts and heat up quickly. Hot water heaters distribute heat via heat exchangers and can also heat domestic water, but they are more complex to install and require more space for pipes.
- Can I connect a diesel heater to the existing fuel tank?
- This is generally possible, but should be checked and carried out by a specialist company. Important considerations include a tight, marine-grade fuel line and a fine filter before the unit – diesel quality on board is not always optimal.
- Does a boat heater work without shore power?
- Diesel heaters run on the onboard battery and are therefore independent of shore power – ideal for anchoring trips and winter berths. Electric heaters, on the other hand, require a stable shore power connection and are hardly suitable for operation at anchor.
- How often does a diesel heater need to be serviced?
- Once per season is the rule: glow plug, combustion chamber, and fuel filter should be on the checklist. If you shut down the heater for the summer, you should let it run briefly before the winter break to prevent fuel from gumming up in the combustion chamber.
