Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte

Which IP protection class do I need for lights in the cockpit or on the hull?
For outdoor areas and the cockpit, at least IP67 is recommended, as these lights are exposed to direct splashing water and occasional submersion. In protected interior spaces without direct water contact, IP54 is often sufficient.
Do the lights work with my 24-volt electrical system?
Not every light is designed for both voltages. Check the product description to see if 12 V, 24 V, or both are specified – incorrect connection can immediately destroy the light or lead to low brightness.
Can I install underwater lights myself?
Basically yes, if you have experience with hull penetrations. The sealing must be absolutely reliable, as any leaky spot below the waterline is critical. If in doubt, you should have the installation carried out by a shipyard.
How do I prevent corrosion on the connections of outdoor lights?
Rinse the lights and plug connections regularly with fresh water and treat the contacts with a water-based contact spray. Before winter storage, it is advisable to open plug connections, check for verdigris, and replace seals if necessary.
