Deine Fragen / Unsere Antworte
- What hose diameter do most marine toilets have?
- Many common marine toilets use an outlet diameter of 38 mm or 19 mm for ventilation connections, but this varies depending on the manufacturer and model. Be sure to check the product data for the specific item and measure your existing connection before ordering.
- Am I allowed to discharge a marine toilet directly overboard?
- In most European coastal and inland waters, the discharge of sewage is prohibited or severely restricted. A holding tank with emptying at a disposal station is mandatory in many areas – inform yourself about the regulations in your cruising area before purchasing.
- How often should I change the pump diaphragm of a manual pump toilet?
- As a rule of thumb: every two to three seasons or as soon as the pump becomes harder to operate or leaks. A set of replacement diaphragms should be kept on board as a spare part – otherwise, a defect on the water is difficult to rectify.
- What material should I choose for fittings and brackets in the marine bathroom?
- For damp areas with salt air, stainless steel A4 or high-quality, UV-stable plastic is recommended. Chrome-plated brass or simple stainless steel A2 can quickly corrode near the coast and should be avoided in direct splash water areas.
