No toxins, no fouling: Hempel Silic One 77450 is a modern silicone-based fouling-release coating that prevents mussels, algae, and the like from adhering in the first place. Instead of biocides, it uses a hydrogel microsurface with extremely low surface energy – organisms simply cannot find a grip. The result is a smooth, clean hull and a clear conscience towards the ecosystem.
Tip: Fouling-release systems like Silic One work best on moving boats. For boats that are stationary for very long periods, the self-cleaning effect may be limited – in this case, occasional diving or wiping of the hull is worthwhile.
